Beaujolais & Back to School

Beaujolais VillagesFirst—let’s discuss the best part of yesterday. There were many good parts to yesterday—including April fooling my kids, working outside in the yard, writing my first-ever A-Z challenge and yes—serving a fine Beaujolais Villages with dinner.  I made a petit filet mignon (medium rare), steamed broccoli and a dinner roll.  Okay—the kids could care less about the broccoli—but that’s okay, I love the stuff.  They are also too young to appreciate or even taste a great wine—so I had no problems picking up the slack.

I found this bottle of Barton & Guestier Beaujolais Villages (the bottle on the left) in the wine section of my local grocer for $12.99.  It paired wonderfully with dinner.   And let’s just say—once I uncorked that beautiful baby—there was no better way to unwind my Sunday evening than to finish it off the last drop.  Hey now, I haven’t had wine in quite some time…I was well over due!

So—why all the fuss?  Well—a little celebration was in order.  That is right. I survived a whole week of spring break with my kids. I made it through 9 days (if you count the Saturdays and Sundays) without losing my mind.  It was really enjoyable this year—having them home. I am almost looking forward to summer break now!  Oh and I’ve lost another 6.5lbs and I’m officially counting down my trip to Florida.  That’s right. I leave in 17 days!! Ahhh—it is going to be a GREAT month! I can already tell!

How about you—can you tell this is going to be a great month?

Are you having fun with the A-Z challenge yet?

Hoping you all have a great Monday!!

Cheers,
