Wine-n-Chat is participating in the A to Z Challenge. Today is letter I.
I have known for awhile I needed a change. Perhaps, I just didn’t want to admit it. After the big 4-0 arrived I knew I was wanting a change—something to say “I’m embracing this”. What that change was going to be was escaping me at first. However, I slowly began to realize what that change needed to be. I could no longer pass a mirror and not notice. The weight of it—was literally pulling me down. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve come to embrace it in so many ways and yet I knew it had to go. Yes, I’m referring to the long mop that inhabited the top of my head!!
So off I went to visit Violet to explain to her my problem. The hair that had once been my pride and joy in my 20;s…the same hair that decided to fall out in mass droves in my mid-30’s, started growing back in with mixed identity. Some of it was wavy, some of it was curly, and a good portion of it was straight. I didn’t have hours in a day to straighten the wavy and the curly —and I didn’t have hours to curl the straight parts. I needed a solution. She suggested I take the plunge and cut it.
And so I sat there—waiting patiently while she mixed me up some color, and foiled my head. A short 20 minutes later (maybe longer—who knows) she was rinsing me, shampooing me and conditioning me. Then it was off to the chair. Those scissors seemed larger than life—but I always find it relaxing—the whole process of someone else doing your hair for you, making you look great while you sit and gab away at anything or nothing at all.
Then she asked me the one question I could not answer. Do you want to wear it straight or let it dry naturally and let it go wavy. Oh gosh—indecision at its finest. I had no idea. I just told her that I wanted it “did” and she needed to make it look great. Which I think she did. It was a lot shorter—and she straightened it for me. Today I faced that same decision—straight or wavy—I went with wavy.
Above are the Before and After pics, the last two being “after”. Middle one is obviously straight—the right is obviously wavy. Lighting was not the same for each one—and of course I had my contacts on for that last picture.
I’m happy either wavy or straight. I kinda like having the variety. I can’t tell you how much lighter my neck feels now that the bulk of that mass is gone!! LOL. I guess I like having options…and yes some days I’m going to have a bit of indecision—but I’ll learn to deal!
Cheers,

I like the wavy. I know exactly what you went through. I keep mine up all the time because I don't want to face the reality. Lol
