Swim Party

Wine-n-Chat is participating in the A to Z Challenge for the month of April.  Today is Letter S.

Day 2 in Florida and we spent the day at Fred Howard Beach in Tarpon Springs, Florida with my friend Sandy and her three girls. The kids enjoyed swimming in the water and lucky for them they got to see a dolphin swim past.  Of course, my youngest is convinced it was a shark, ha ha, but it was indeed a dolphin. 

Turns out, that even though we applied and reapplied sunscreen, we all got a little bit of sunburn.  The funny part is it was not a uniform sunburn.  It was as if someone forgot to put sunscreen on a whole patch of our arm, back, face, etc.  We did apply it all over, and my guess is that some of the sunscreen washed off when we went in the water.  Kinda funny.  The sunburns were not bad and they are all tan today.

After we headed to Kathy’s house (co-author here on Wine-n-Chat) to a Swim Party and eat lots and lots of food.  She had a spread of tacos (beef and chicken), fajitas, nachos, and all of the trimmings.  And for those not into Mexican, she had a bunch of hotdogs and all the fixings you can imagine to build you a great one.  Let’s just say, I ate way more than I should have. 

I knew she was going all out, so I brought her over a bottle of Pinot Grigio by Mezzacorona and a bottle of Beaujolais Villages for her enjoyment.  I wasn’t able to drink anything as I had the keys (yes, folks I take that drinking and driving thing seriously!), but I know Kathy enjoyed some of the Pinot Grigio.

After stuffing our faces, the kids headed out to the pool outback to go swimming.  They had a blast—then they all jumped in the hot tub until the lightning flashed for us one too many times.  In the house we went, right before the major down pour and we enjoyed the ice cream bar her husband prepared for us.  What a sweet way to end the evening!!

Finally, I headed back to Grandma’s house and my youngest was out like a light.  As of 10 am this morning, he still hasn’t moved!!  Sun, beach, food, pool, hot tub, dessert, and OUT he went.  Day 2 was an awesome day!!
